July 21-23 gave us the second annual DeMolay camping trip. Friday evening we set up the campsite, then enjoyed relaxing around a campfire while filling up on fire roasted hot dogs and s’mores. Everyone went to bed to get some rest for the big day that was planned for Saturday. During the night, Dad N managed a tent collapse and woke up wrapped in his tent instead of sleeping in the tent.
Saturday morning gave us a great breakfast of omelets in a bag with croissants, then the members got to work on our service project. The service project that we completed was the weeding and trimming of the flagpole patio in front of the Greensburg Masonic Center, chosen because it was a great way to show appreciation to the Masons for letting us use the building (and grounds) so often. Burgers, baked beans, and chips were served for lunch during an unscheduled break due to rain. After lunch we enjoyed a modified schedule of our Sports Day, that included exercising our minds with some board games while we waited for the rain to stop. Once the rain stopped, we resumed normal activities for sports day (including some much needed wiffle ball practice). We had a great dinner of pasta and garlic bread, then returned to some board games for some more brain exercise until it was time for sleep again.
Sunday morning we got up and enjoyed a simple breakfast of instant oatmeal, then tore down the campsite and cleaned up so that we didn’t leave any mess behind. Everyone went home (or to whatever other activities they wanted to) at ten, looking forward to the third annual DeMolay camping trip next year.
